| I had a nice interview with Tom Sheets from Ohio who drives #99 in the Late Model class. But I lost the sheet with all the information! So from my short memory, I will tell you what I remember. This was Tom's first race after taking a three year break and he was really excited to be on the track again. Driving car # B9 is Tom's brother Bill Sheets. The two were in line together waiting for their heat race in the picture to the right. For the feature race, Bill finished in 6th place and Tom finished in 8th place. I have a picture of Bill working on Tom's car before the race. Do you think he was trying to make sure Tom didn't beat him?! |
| Above: Happy birthday to Henry Messerschmidd from St. Peters, Indiana who turned 75 today. Henry is a brother-in-law to Keith Mergenthal (sitting next to Henry) who is at the track every week to watch his son, flagman Dave Mergenthal. |
| Left: Four years ago Jack Huber (sitting on the right) and his wife were camping at Whitewater State Park when they "heard racing somewhere!" They found Union County Speedway. Since then, they have been coming to the track every week. Jack persuaded his friend from work, Bill "Noodlehead" Rahmas, to join him at the track last year and he has returned every week also. |
