Meet Chick Hale
Chick is a WWII Veteran
from Lewisburg, Ohio.
He will be 79 years old
in August.
Chick ran at the Union County Speedway in the 1960's and 1970's
and ran with a lot of the racers on our track today. He has come to the
track every Friday night to watch the races for the last 50 years. You
should look for Chick at the track and talk to him about some very
interesting things he has experienced over the years.

1954 was the first year for Chick's racing career and he has raced
EVERY year since!  He has won the most championships and the
most races at Eldora Speedway than anyone else. The first "World
100" at Eldora Speedway was won by Chick.  He currently races in
the Modified classes at Eldora; but not every weekend. One of the
first Modified cars to have wings was owned by Chick!  He received
a lifetime pass to the Eldora Speedway in the 70's and they still honor
his pass today.  He is a good friend of Tony Stewart.

In 1983 Chick had quadruple bypass surgery and two months later he
won the championship at Eldora Speedway.  He was hit from the rear
one year that made his gas tank explode.  He was burned on both
arms, face, chest, and back.  Released from the hospital on a
Tuesday from his burns after 29 days, Chick was back on the track
on Wednesday and won his feature race at the Dayton Speedway!
He said his aches and pains just "disappear" as soon as he sits in a
car!
